New Prague Route Sees China Airlines Offer Non-Stop Flights to Six Popular European Cities

2023 Jul 19

To celebrate the official launch of the Taipei-Prague route, China Airlines President Kao Shing-Hwang departed from Taipei on inaugural flight CI067 and arrived in Prague on July 19. The non-stop service to Prague lasted 13.5 hours and saved travelers 4 to 5 hours of transit time. China Airlines now offers non-stop routes to six popular European destinations including Amsterdam (the Netherlands), Frankfurt (Germany), Vienna (Austria), London (UK), Rome (Italy), and Prague (Czech Republic). The comprehensive European network makes China Airlines the leading carrier in Taiwan in terms of network coverage and frequency for non-stop flights to Europe.

Prague Airport celebrated the arrival of CI067 with the traditional water salute ceremony that will also mark the inauguration of the CI068 service from Prague to Taipei. According to Kao, China Airlines is the only carrier to offer non-stop flights between Taiwan and the Czech Republic. The new Prague route will encourage bilateral business, trade and tourism. Kao also expects strong interest from the transit market for Japan, Korea and Vietnam, allowing more Asian travelers to pass through Taiwan on their way to and from the Czech Republic and thus enhancing Taiwan’s status as a regional transit hub.

China Airlines has assigned the next-generation A350 passenger aircraft to the Taipei-Prague route and all 306 seats on the inaugural round-trip flights were sold out. Five-star catering is provided by China Airlines. Flights departing from Taipei feature cuisine from Le Palais, the only Michelin 3-Star restaurant in Taiwan, as well as desserts and beverages from WooTea, the famous hand-shaken beverage brand. Flights departing from Prague offer specialty cuisine and travelers can enjoy a variety of Czech dishes aboard the flight. Pork Strips in Oyster Sauce with Quinoa Rice and Vegetables, Grilled Beef Fillet in Pinot Noir Sauce Arborio Risotto and Vegetables and Pan-fried Pike Perch Fillet in Dill Sauce with Potato Puree and Vegetables are the featured mains for Premium Business Class, while Marlenka Honey Cake, a traditional treat with 300 years of history, is served for dessert. Premium Economy Class passengers can chose from Braised Chicken Thigh in Red Curry Sauce with Steamed Rice or Stewed Beef with Mashed Potatoes. Chicken Strips in Oyster Sauce with Steamed Rice or Roasted Pork with Potato Dumplings are served in Economy Class with Kolonada Cookies from Karlovy Vary providing a sweet finish.

China Airlines strive to provide travelers with high-quality service. Premium Business and Premium Economy Class travelers on long-haul flights receive The North Face travel bags. Both styles are made from eco-friendly materials that have won praise from travelers for their practicality and functionality. To celebrate the inauguration of the Prague service, China Airlines prepared an inaugural flight gift pack laden with surprises including a commemorative canvas bag, a limited edition inaugural Prague flight A350 aircraft model, souvenir streamers, denim folding travel bag and the China Airlines 2023 classic notebook to leave travelers on the inaugural flight with great memories.

China Airlines Offers Separate Entry/Arrival via Austria/Czech Republic and Code-sharing for Regional Connections

China Airlines now operates two weekly flights on the Taipei-Prague route. In addition to increased travel convenience between Taiwan and the Czech Republic, the twice weekly flight also caters to the travel demand in the nearby cities of Nuremberg and Dresden in Germany. As China Airlines already operates four to five weekly flights on the Taipei-Vienna route, travelers can enjoy more flexibility with their itineraries and opt to arrive or depart via Vienna or Prague with one scheduled flight per day.

China Airlines is actively expanding its operations in Europe and has codesharing agreements in place with a number of other carriers including KLM, Air France, Air Europa, and Czech Airlines. Connecting flights from China Airlines stations to 16 other destinations in the UK, France, Italy, and Spain are available through codeshare flights. A codesharing agreement with Deutsche Bahn also provides railway connections to 13 German cities. Robust codesharing arrangements and cooperation with hybrid transportation partners expand the network to cover all of Europe.
